The Mumbai Mirror is reporting that New Delhi officials have taken action as New Delhi is expected to be a significant destination for sex tourism. The police have been alerted to crack down on "... traffickers, escort services and touts."This is apparently as the result of an expected increase in sex workers and traffickers due to major sporting events like the Commonwealth Games.
The Commonwealth games are in New Delhi this year and run from October 3-14. It is interesting that the New Delhi Commonwealth games has adopted a code of conduct for tourists which states in part "... no public embracing, no short clothes, and the most important no religion conversation which could lead towards racism and so forth, though India is a secular country."
