Prostitutes In Jackets
Prostitutes in the town of Els Alamus in Spain have been ordered by police to wear fluorescent jackets to prevent road accidents.
Officers have been fining the sex workers for failing to wear the brightly coloured clothing where they work.
The fines have been issued under a traffic law which states pedestrians on major highways or hard shoulders must wear fluorescent jackets. The sex workers have been buying sleeveless yellow jackets and wearing them over their work outfits which often consist of short skirts or shorts and skimpy tops

Afghanistan Shuts Down Internet Cafes
In Afghanistan, a total of 17 internet cafes in the capital city of Kabul have been forcibly closed by Afghan authorities for allowing surfers to access “immoral websites.”
According to Pakhwok Afghan News, the Afghan Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ATRA) had reportedly warned operators that they cannot allow customers to look at porn or other un-Islamic websites.
A member of ATRA told reporters that the Authority was under order from the council of ministers to “ban all immoral activities of net cafes, which had been violating Islamic teachings and the constitution of the country.”A subsequent investigation turned up the 17 cafes, which were ordered to close immediately.

Spanish Brothel Opens
A brothel touted as the largest brothel in Europe has opened for business after a Spanish town failed to stop it in the courts.
Although there has been resistance by the town, the manager of the brothel dismisses claims of exploitation. The manager is quoted as saying,"I give the girls breakfast, lunch and dinner and they get to keep whatever they make.
The club, which measures 2,700 square metres and boasts 80 rooms is one of 11 so-called "macro-brothels" in the Catalan region of Gerona. It is estimated that roughly 1,800 prostitutes reportedly sell their services there.

World Cup Predictions Wrong
The world cup held in South Africa this past summer saw no significant increase in the sex industry's demand despite alarmist projections before the games.
Prior to the start of the tournament in June, there were concerns that tourists would increase the demand for prostitutes in the area, fuelling human trafficking.
However, Reuters reports that a survey of 663 sex workers found little change in their average number of clients per week. There were also concerns that HIV could be spread, due to high rates of the virus in the country. However, the surveyed workers reported that 99% of men used a condom.
The survey was conducted by the South African Sex Worker Education and Advocacy Task Force in conjunction with the U.N. Population Fund.
"There were not significantly more clients seen per sex worker during the World Cup period," the survey said. In addition, the survey also showed that the proportion of foreign sex workers decreased rather than increased during the tournament.

Radio Ad Too Sexy
A halloween radio ad for a major retailer specializing in sexy ingerie in England has been banned for being likely to offend listeners.
The Radio Advertising Clearance Centre (RACC) blocked the ad, saying that it contained "fairly overt sexual references in terms of sound effects".
The commercial begins with screams and then is replaced by screams of pleasure. A voice can then be heard to say: "Tight, short, low-cut. A spokesman for the RACC said the ad breached advertising regulations governing taste and offence.
The retailer has appealed and indicated that they believe "... Britons are broad-minded and would understand the topical and cheeky nature of our advert."

Canada Goes After Craigslist
In Canada, Manitoba is following the lead of Ontario in demanding that online service Craigslist stop carrying ads for sex-trade workers in Canada.
Critics of Craigslist's erotic services section allege that underage girls are among those being sold for sex in the ads.
A group of Canadian attorneys led by the Justice Minister will write a letter to Craigslist "in the hope that they'll voluntarily pull those ads."
The company pulled such ads in the United States following pressure from state officials and the victims of sex traffickers themselves. Craigslist has said it has not removed the erotic services content from its website in Canada because it's not been pressured to do so.

Blair's Bad Sex Award
Sex News heads to England where former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is in the running for the dubious prize in literature - the Bad Sex Award.
A passage from his new autobiography, A Journey, has Blair reminiscing about a night of passion with his wife. It was such an uncomfortable passage that Britain’s Literary Review magazine made him the first writer of a non-fiction work to be considered for the "honor".
The passage reads as follows, "That night she cradled me in her arms and soothed me; told me what I needed to be told; strengthened me ... On that night of 12 May 1994 I needed that love [she] gave me, selfishly," he wrote."I devoured it to give me strength. I was an animal following my instinct."

Prostitutes And Trees
Sex News Around The World heads to Italy where authorities in the Abruzzo region of central Italy are prepared to combat prostitution by deforestation methods.
Apparently local law enforcement and politicians have fought prostitution in this area for decades in which a stretch of forested road has been a haven for the sex trade.
The forested area runs inland for more than 10 miles from the Adriatic coast alongside the river Tronto. Despite cameras, raids, and 24-hour patrols, the mayors of towns near the road have seen no progress.
The regional government's public works chief announced the move and agreed with provincial and municipal representatives to cut down all the vegetation "around and along the banks [of the river Tronto]", in which the prostitutes ply their trade.
Three environmental groups said that the scheme would destroy 28 hectares (69 acres) of woodland vital to local ecosystems, saying the only crime of the thousands of trees on the local authorities' hit list had been to "offer with their fronds shelter and intimacy to sex slaves".

Porn Doesn't Harm Men
Sex News Around The World stays in Canada where there is good news for men who view porn.
A Canadian researcher has concluded after a two-year study that watching pornographic videos does not impact men's sexual habits or their relationships with women.
The Montreal University professor in the study refutes claims that pornography enthusiasts seek out in life what they see in X-rated videos which leads to sexual abuse or denigration of women. To quote the sociologist, " It would be like saying that vodka ads lead to alcoholism."

Sex Ads Eliminated
Great Britain has taken steps to make sure people don't have to apply for jobs in adult entertainment to continue jobless benefits.
The rules implemented by the government's Jobcentre Plus are to remove concerns by women looking at job vacancies to feel any sense that they have to apply for adult sex jobs.
The problem arose several years ago when it was discovered that numerous ads at the government's Jobcentre Plus network contained adult entertainment jobs.
According to the government minister for employment, "You can still apply as a nightclub bouncer; you an still apply as a cleaner, but it's very much about jobs that actually involve somebody taking their clothes off for the amusement of others in a public arena, and that's what we want job centres to stop advertising."

Virginity Test Urged
This sex news from around the world comes from Indonesia where an Indonesian legislator wants girls in his province to pass virginity tests before being admitted into state-funded high schools.Needless to say, the idea has been strongly ridiculed and has little chance of passing. The Indonesian legislator expressed concerns about the rise in premarital sex among teens.
Opponents this week argued that mandatory testing would be discriminatory and a violation of human rights. The proposal would need the support of the Jambi governor who has condemned the idea.
